Rockwell Automation Employees Pitch In for Computer Recycling Program
The Information Platform Business (IPB) Department of Rockwell Automation has adopted IndependenceFirst as their United Way Agency for 2006 and 2007. 17 volunteers from this department came to assist with computer recycling functions.
How did they choose this IndependenceFirst program to assist? The IndependenceFirst Computer Recycling Program receives donated personal and business computers and refurbishes them for distribution to people with disabilities who otherwise can’t afford to buy new personal computers. Recently, 150 computers have been donated to IndependenceFirst’s Computer Recycling Program and the staff had become overwhelmed with the task of determining their integrity, installing new hardware and software. The combination of this daunting task, their area of expertise, and the many people with disabilities on the computer waiting list compelled the Rockwell Automation volunteer engineers to pitch in. IndependenceFirst and the people with disabilities who were waiting for computers, greatly appreciate Rockwell Automation’s volunteers in their United Way Day of Caring work! Thank you so much for your help!
If you or your company has computers that are being upgraded and are looking for a place to donate them, contact IndependenceFirst’s Computer Recycling Program at abruening@independencefirst.org or call 414-226-8382 V/Relay. Minimum operating system criteria and speed are required to accept a computer donation as they must be internet ready. Contact us if you have questions about acceptance criteria.
