Disability Benefits Specialist
IndependenceFirst is seeking several Disability Benefits Specialists. Responsibilities include counseling individuals with disabilities regarding eligibility for various programs and benefits, and assisting individuals with applying for benefits and appealing denial of benefits. Candidates should have an understanding of the service system, benefits and programs utilized by people with disabilities, the ability to interpret regulations and explain complex information in a simple manner. Also desired is a bachelor’s degree in a related field and excellent written and oral communications skills. American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish or Hmong fluency a plus.
Quality Assurance Manager
IndependenceFirst, an organization committed to empowering persons with disabilities, is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for our in-home Personal Assistance Services (PAS) program. Responsibilities include the administration of quality assurance, compliance and audit services in the PAS Department regarding personal care/supportive home care services. This position will also recommend, develop and follow up on policies and procedures in relationship to quality improvement. The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year experience being responsible for quality assurance in a health care environment (preferably in personal or home health care), have knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare benefits, and have strong organizational and communication skills. One must have the ability to demonstrate flexibility, problem solving skills, and high level of analysis. Candidate must also be able to make consumer home visits that may or may not be accessible. Fluent in Spanish or Russian a plus.
Cental City Branch Office Project Coordinator
IndependenceFirst, an organization committed to empowering persons with disabilities is seeking a Central City Branch Office Project Coordinator to join our team. Responsibilities include establishing referral relationships with community partners, and providing outreach activities related to building relationships in the multi-cultural/underserved communities (African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Hmong). Also responsible for the identification of independent living needs, developing IL plans, providing information and referral, IL skills instruction and advocacy for our consumers. The successful candidate will have a firm belief in consumer control and the IL philosophy, strong communication and computer skills, ability to multi-task, a self-starter and must be able to work independently. Bachelor’s degree in related field or life experience may be substituted in lieu of, in full or part of academic requirements. American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish or Hmong fluency a plus.
