Specifically, Benefits Counseling Includes:

 

  • Face to face meeting with a certified Benefits Specialist
  • Discussion of individual`s situation and work goals
  • Explanation of current benefits and services including Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medical
  • Assistance, Medicare, Food Share, energy assistance, and housing assistance.
  • Verification of individual`s benefits and service
  • Identification of additional benefits and services
  • Explanation of the Social Security work incentives and employment supports
  • Assistance accessing work incentives and employment supports
  • Analyzes of how earnings from work will affect an individual`s benefits and services
  • Additional health insurance options
  • Written report that summarizes all information, which is individualized, comprehensive, and confidential

  • Benefits Analysis and Advisement – An assessment of a beneficiary`s situation and the impact of work on Federal and State benefits.
  • Benefits Support Planning – Assistance with developing a long-term plan incorporating the beneficiary`s work goal and available work incentives.
  • Benefits Management – Assistance with managing benefits when a beneficiary experiences changes that affect benefits.
