Attendant Referral Program
The Attendant Referral Program helps persons with disabilities learn how to employ Personal Care Attendants, covering aspects such as recruiting, screening, making the hiring decision and training. Referrals of screened applicants are provided. A registry of 20 –30 prescreened applicants is maintained for potential referrals.
The Attendant Referral Program is designed to help people with disabilities to remain in the comfort of their home and out of an institution. Live-in and come-in positions can be filled. Job duties include whatever a person with a disability needs to increase his or her independence.
Goals
- To assist persons with disabilities to increase their skills in being an employer of a Personal Care Attendant.
- To help persons with disabilities to stay in their own home and out of an institution.
- To help maximize independence in the home setting.

Consumer Responsibilities/Expectations
The consumer is required to make the hiring decision and train his or attendant independently. Required to contact the Attendant Referral Coordinator monthly. The consumer is also responsible to pay the wage of his or her employee, or secure a funding source.
