Give computer donations. Live green.
Help us to bridge the digital divide.
IndependenceFirst accepts business and personal computer donations (including laptops, monitors and computer accessories e.g. mouse) regularly Monday through Friday between 8am and 4:30pm at our office at 540 S. 1st St. in Milwaukee, WI (53204). There are occasional Computer Recycling Drive events on Saturdays.
If you are unable to drop off your donated computer, or if your business would like to donate several computers at one time, pickups are available but scheduled according to volunteer pickup availability.
Donations should be at minimum:
• Pentium D Processor (2005 or newer)
• 512 MB RAM memory (Prefer 2 GB)
• Flat screen monitors and laptops in working OR non-working conditions. We are unable to accept CRT monitors or televisions.
We follow strict identity theft prevention protocols and all workers in the department complete a background check.
Individuals and businesses donate one or several computers at a time especially when office computers are depreciated and upgraded. This is a green alternative to disposal, an economic benefit to businesses who otherwise pay services for recycling, and allows people with disabilities who otherwise couldn’t afford to purchase a computer, the opportunity to develop useful employment and life skills to achieve their goals. It’s a computerized world and we’re bridging the digital divide for people with disabilities through this program. Receipts for tax deduction available.
