2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Northwest corner of N. 35th St. and Highland Ave.Milwaukee 53208

Details:

Accessibility Walk-and-Roll for Crosswalk Awareness

with Independence First and MilWALKee Walks

Join Independence First, and MilWALKee Walks for a walk-and-roll experience. We will discuss how street design and driver behavior impacts pedestrians, especially those with mobility and visual disabilities.

We will gather at the northwest corner of North 35th St. and Highland Ave. to cross the street within the crosswalk holding signs stating “Yield to Pedestrians.” This is to bring awareness to drivers of pedestrians, and especially disabled pedestrians, crossing the street. This is an opportunity for persons with disabilities to experience the location of new infrastructure features (dedicated bike lanes and floating bus stops), and provide comments. So far, the disabled community has not had a voice in these new builds.

This event will be held on Thursday, October 10th, 2024 from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM

Meet at the northwest corner of N 35th St. & Highland Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208
