National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) SMARTS for Advocacy Training

This workshop is focused on individuals who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind.

Participants will learn how to improve their advocacy skills and practice shaping a powerful and personal story that will influence legislators and policy makers.

This is a FREE event, please reserve your seat by October 15, 2023. 
Lunch will be provided and will accommodate those who have dietary needs such as vegetarian or gluten free. 

American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English interpreters will be provided along with Communication Access to Real Time (CART) captioning.

This training is a collaboration between NAMI Wisconsin, DHS Behavioral Health Initiative (BHI), Independence First, and the Wisconsin Mental Health Alliance of People who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind.

Environmental and Chemical Sensitivities: 

For the safety and comfort of those with chemical and environmental sensitivities, Independence First requests that when attending agency-sponsored events, please refrain from using any perfumed products such as scented soaps, deodorants, perfumes, colognes, and heavily scented fabric softeners. To maintain a smoke-free environment, please also refrain from smoking in paths of travel and doorways.
