Details:Join Independence First for the September edition of our Learn & Advocate Lunch Series, a monthly virtual discussion exploring current issues in disability rights, accessibility, independent living, and community inclusion. The September session will take place Thursday, September 10, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. Central via Zoom.
This month’s featured discussion, “Advocating with ADA in Real Life,” will be led by Brian Peters of Independence First. Using curriculum from the ADA Training Leadership Network, Brian will guide participants through the different titles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and explore how they apply to situations people may encounter in everyday life.
Participants will learn how to recognize potential ADA violations and consider different approaches they can use to advocate for accessibility and disability rights. This is designed to be an interactive discussion, so participants are encouraged to come prepared to share experiences, ask questions, and talk about how the ADA works in real-world situations.
