Independence First offers a free hiking club for people with disabilities. We took advantage of the summer to explore nature in the Milwaukee area such as Lion's Den Gorge, Retzer Nature Center and the lakefront. As a bonus, members of the summer hiking club also received a free backpack filled with supplies such as a water bottle, camera, binoculars and nature-based activities.
The group promotes health and nature appreciation by getting outside and exploring new destinations at Milwaukee metro area parks and recreational areas. Each week, we meet at a different accessible destination to enjoy the fresh air with new friends.
