Transit Plus Same-Day Service Hours Changing March 15

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) has announced a change to the Tranist Plus Same-Day Pilot Program, which provides last-minute transportation for eligible riders with disabilities.

Beginning March 15, the program’s service hours will start one hour later. Same-day rides will now be available from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week. Previously, the service began at 7:00 a.m.

Trip requests will continue to be accepted through 5:59 p.m. daily.

What Is the Transit Plus Same-Day Program?

The Transit Plus Same-Day Pilot Program was launched in 2024 to help riders who need transportation for trips that could not be scheduled in advance. The service is designed to support urgent needs such as medical appointments, work shifts, or other essential travel.

Same-day rides are available throughout Milwaukee County for individuals who are already approved for Transit Plus paratransit service.

The Same-Day program allows eligible riders to:

  • Schedule last-minute transportation

  • Take up to six one-way trips per month

  • Travel anywhere within Milwaukee County

  • Pay $10 per trip using cash, credit, or debit card

Riders must be approved Transit Plus consumers in order to use the program.

Why the Service Hours Are Changing

According to Milwaukee County Transit System, the adjustment to the program’s start time is being made to ensure the service remains within the county's 2026 transit budget. The Same-Day program was originally introduced as a pilot program and continues to operate as part of the county’s paratransit services.
