Gear up for biking season --RSS Feed

Spring is blooming around us and we are venturing out from hibernation. Our bodies are craving sunshine and warmth. Our great city has so many fun and exciting things to do in the spring and upcoming summer. One way to get out there and see Milwaukee is by bike. Consider renting a Duet bike from IndepedenceFirst to enjoy some of the many bike trails the Milwaukee area has to offer. Duet bikes are tandem wheelchair bikes in which a person in back pedals and steers the bike and a person in a seat on the front of the bike enjoys the ride.

Duet bikes can be rented from
IndependenceFirst free of charge.

This bike allows friends and families to enjoy a biking adventure together. Once your destination is reached, the front wheelchair portion of the bike can be disconnected and used independently. The bikes can accommodate most sizes and are free of charge.

If you are interested in renting a bike or learning more about Duet bikes, please contact Kristin Stern at 414-226-8332 V/Relay or Grant Heffelfinger at 414-226-8367 V/Relay. Bike rentals are available now.

Another adapted biking option for people with disabilities is the Zagster adaptive bikes located at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. Four different kinds of accessible bikes are available for hourly or daily rates. Learn more about Zagster Wauwatosa here
