Announcing advocacy outreach listening sessions --RSS Feed

By Brian Peters, Community Access & Policy Specialist

This summer, we are going to do something new and exciting, which we have never done before! The advocacy teams at IndependenceFirst would like to invite people to three advocacy listening sessions in Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties. Or as we affectionately call them, the WOW Counties!

We are inviting people living in these three counties to attend one of our listening sessions. A representative from each of the four IndependenceFirst advocacy teams will be present. The teams are: ADA, Deaf Access, Long Term Care and Transportation.

We hope to learn more about issues happening in the WOW Counties that are barriers to accessibility and/or independence. We also want to talk to people about the advocacy teams and the work we do, in hopes that people will want to join. But that’s not a requirement; people can come to the listening sessions to talk about issues without joining a team.

The listening sessions will be:

Waukesha County
June 26 1-3 p.m.
892 Main St, Pewaukee (WCTC Workforce
Development Center)

Washington County
July 31 1-3 p.m.
630 Poplar Street,
West Bend
(West Bend Library)

Ozaukee County
Aug 28 1-3 p.m.
885 Badger Circle, Grafton (Family Enrichment Center)

We hope to see you there!

Anyone wanting to attend should RSVP with Brian Peters, 414-937-5912 VP/Relay. People can also ask for disability-related reasonable accommodations at least two weeks before the event. We will do our best to honor requests after that. A reminder that IndependenceFirst events are fragrance-free, so please refrain from using any perfumed products such as scented soaps, deodorants, perfumes, colognes and heavily scented fabric softeners.
